Bringing industry, academia, and government together to harness British Columbia’s growing global reputation as a leader in quantum computing.

LEARN MORE

Quantum computing holds a bright future because of its ability to solve some complex problems that are beyond the current, and all future, capabilities of traditional computers. With a focus on applications for existing or near-term quantum hardware platforms, the QAI provides companies from various industries the opportunity to partner with academic institutions, quantum application companies, and quantum hardware providers to de-risk the adoption of quantum technologies and to gain a market advantage.

The work of the institute’s members is expected to create new companies and investment opportunities as the research moves towards commercial uses in supply chain logistics, medical research, advanced design, materials testing, finance, modeling, and cybersecurity.

Our Mandate

Mission: Leverage British Columbia’s strengths to establish an applied quantum computing ecosystem that features broad participation, an inclusive approach to core technology and is focused on building a critical mass of talent that drives skilled job creation and economic development across the province and Canada.

Vision: By 2025, the Quantum Algorithms Institute is a world leader in producing highly-qualified professionals in quantum computing, basic and quantum algorithmic research, and in applying quantum computing technologies to real world problems.

Our Goals

Educate and grow a talent ecosystem in British Columbia that is focused on applying existing and emerging quantum technologies to solve real-world industry and government problems.
Identify real-world industry, public policy and research problems that can be solved more efficiently using quantum computing, then demonstrate this quantum advantage.
Build strong industry-academia partnerships that bring domain expertise and research knowledge together to work on innovative solutions that can be commercialized.
