Quantum Algorithms Institute Announces Roster of Affiliate Fellows And Invites Quantum Researchers at Canadian Universities to Join

An innovative collaboration between quantum researchers and industry partners has been formalized by the Quantum Algorithms Institute (QAI), a not-for-profit organization created to help secure British Columbia’s position as a global leader in the application of quantum computing technology to real-world problems. To date, 11 faculty researchers from universities in British Columbia have been named as the initial Affiliate Fellows, coming from Simon Fraser University (SFU), University of Victoria (UVic) and University of British Columbia (UBC).

QAI's Chairman, Brad Lackey, Publishes New Quantum Research Article

QAI’s chairman and senior principal researcher at Microsoft, Brad Lackey just published a research article on arxiv with ChunJun Cao from the University of Maryland. The paper, “Quantum Lego: Building Quantum Error Correction Codes from Tensor Networks” introduces a graphically intuitive framework that constructs complex quantum error correction codes from simple codes or states, generalizing code concatenation. Several examples are included in order to demonstrate the framework’s capabilities.
